The Big Chicken Chorus In April of 1986 “The Marietta, GA Chapter of S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A., Inc.” was chartered to operate as a Chapter of SPEBSQSA (d.b.a. Barbershop Harmony Society) including authorization to use their IRS 501(c)(3) status, and was registered with the Georgia Secretary of State as a non-profit organization. The Big Chicken Chorus (BCC), named after a long time Marietta landmark, is the primary performing unit of the Marietta, GA Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS). We are an all volunteer, dues paying organization and our members provide a significant amount of time, energy, travel and uniform expense and financial support for our on going operations. MISSION STATEMENT “The Marietta, GA Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, d.b.a. Big Chicken Chorus, strives to preserve and encourage the singing of Barbershop Harmony in a professional and congenial atmosphere. Our purpose is to enrich the quality of life in our community, engage our audiences, provide musical education and performance opportunities to the youth of our community, and provide musical challenge and reward to our singers.” Our importance to the community is in transforming lives through song: some for a moment, some a while longer and on occasion, we provide a lasting experience that generates the hope and change in the lifestyle and future direction of members of our audience. The BCC and its member quartets have given numerous performances in the community, many of which are gratis, and include fundraising concerts for other nonprofits and in support of community events. We sponsor two shows annually, open to the public, designed to provide a family oriented source of entertainment for our community and as a source of revenue to help us offset operating expenses.
