The Chattahoochee Nature Center (CNC) is a private non-profit environmental science center that is one of North Atlanta’s major attractions. Founded by local citizen activists in the mid-70’s CNC celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2016. CNC’s 127 acres along the Chattahoochee River in Roswell includes a Discovery Center that serves as the interpretive center for the river; plus garden, woodland and river boardwalk trails featuring rehabilitated native wildlife, as well as the only Nature Exchange in the Southeast. CNC serves over 140,000 visitors annually and provide education programs for over 40,000 students. The mission is to ‘connect people with nature’ which is done daily through summer camps, canoe trips, evening concerts, ziplining in the woods, and community programs for all ages. Live music, regular art exhibits, community programs that include local artists and a focus on the ‘art in nature’ enhance programs. The Unity Garden provides nearly 5 tons of fresh produce to North Fulton Community Charities Food Pantry each year.
