Nobuntu, the female a cappella quartet from Zimbabwe, has drawn international acclaim for its inventive performances that range from traditional Zimbabwean songs to Afro Jazz to Gospel. The ensemble’s concerts are performed with pure voices, augmented by minimalistic percussion, traditional instruments such as the Mbira (thumb piano) and organic, authentic dance movements.

Rash will discuss his recently published novel, The Caretaker, in conversation with Robert Gwaltney, winner of the 2023 Georgia Author of the Year for First Novel for The Cicada Tree. One which can raise an army of the Living Dead! The rotting corpses of Lord Yunagi have their undead sights set on the small farming town of Kana, which is unfortunately in the path of ultimate conquest. Can disgraced Samurai Kambe and Seven Zombie Hunters train the villagers to defeat the insatiable ghouls to the horde and unravel their mystery before all is lost? This event will be performed in the intimate B-side theatre and will feature a live Foley artist alongside the top voice actors in the region.

Anna, Sheila, and Clare Friel are traditional musicians from the Doire na Mainséar, Donegal in the North West of Ireland. Being siblings, they achieve a close blend on fiddle, flute, and uilleann pipes interspersed with songs sung in unison, many from their family and local repertoire. Joined more recently by Marty Barry on guitar and Cathal Ó Curráin on bouzouki, the ladies have won many prestigious titles over the years, including Clare receiving the 2018 honor of TG4 Young Musician of the Year in Ireland. Olivia Bradley, an Atlanta favorite local Irish singer, will open for the band at 7:30 p.m. and The Friel Sisters will be on at 8:00 p.m.
