Pinafore\, Barone Douphol and Dottore Grenville in La traviata\, McCarthy/Interrogator/Estonian Frank in Fellow Travelers\, Apollo in L’Orfeo\, Doctor in Macbeth\, and Happy in La faniulla del West. She has performed with world-class institutions including the National Symphony Orchestra\, Santa Rosa Symphony\, and San Francisco Ballet. Her recent work includes lauded appearances at San Francisco Opera and Wolf Trap Opera\, where her portrayal of Mère Marie in Dialogues des Carmélites “conveyed a curious combination of compassion\, authority and zealotry”. \nAt the piano is David Troy Francis\, co-founder of the Roswell Music Club and a pianist best known for his steadfast championing and performance of contemporary American music\, and an esteemed concert pianist and recording artist. He’s also the composer and executive producer of BARK! Atlanta native Jacob Lay brings his rich baritone voice and artistry to the program\, with performances spanning opera\, concert music\, and works by composers whose voices deserve to be heard. \nTogether\, they will fill the season with beautiful singing\, beloved holiday music\, and the spirit of Christmas. \nPLEASE NOTE:\n\nConcert will be at the magnificent home of Michael Zeno and Michael Cavanaugh located at:\n11706 Mountain Park Rd.  Roswell GA 30075 \nParking:  at Target nearby—shuttle will be provided to the house\n\nAbout The Artists: \n\n\nJeanne Brown \n\nSince her professional debut with Robert Shaw\, Jeanné Brown has touched the souls of her audiences with her “consistently exciting … and radiantly beautiful” classical\, operatic and spiritual performances on the concert stage. She has appeared as featured soloist with Symphony Orchestras and Opera Companies throughout the United States\, Europe and Asia. Most recently Ms. Brown appeared in recital with Alan Morrison and Friends at Spivey Hall in Morrow\, GA. Other recent performances include the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra as soloist for a Tribute to Marvin Hamlisch\, Larry Blank\, conductor and featured soloist with the Johns Creek (GA) Symphony\, Wayne Baughman conductor. For the last two years\, Ms. Brown has performed a series of concerts with Judy Boehm\, pianist and Samuel Hagan\, tenor in various venues around Georgia to rave reviews. \nCareer highlights include performing the role of Monica in The Medium with The Atlanta Opera\, the national and international tour of Houston Grand Opera’s production of Porgy and Bess\, leading roles in premiere performances of Zabette and The Opera Singer\, and featured soloist with the Cape Cod Symphony\, Royston Nash\, conductor. Ms. Brown has studied at Wellesley College\, Spelman College and Georgia State University. Continued studies include Berkshire Music Center at Tanglewood and the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz\, Austria.  In addition to her active performance schedule\, Ms. Brown offers master classes and vocal music teaching and consultation. She is currently residing in Roswell\, GA. \n\n \nJacob Lay\n \n\nJacob Lay\, baritone\, is an Atlanta native from Ellenwood\, GA. He holds degrees from Simpson College in Indianola\, IA (B.M Music Performance) and the University of Tennessee\, Knoxville (M.M Voice Performance). He’s performed with companies around the country such as The Atlanta Opera\, Knoxville Opera\, Des Moines Metro Opera\, Ad Astra Music Festival\, and Cedar Rapids Opera. \n\nJacob is also a passionate advocate for the works of composers from underrepresented groups\, especially the work of William Grant Still\, of whom Jacob has researched and performed frequently. Gwen Hughes \n“It’s like a podcast and a concert all on the same stage!”  (Eric\, Audience Member) \nA unique jazz tribute to the legendary Sir Paul McCartney\, highlighting his post-Beatles career – his solo work & with the band\, Wings. \nIconic Atlanta Pianist\, Jex Graham (Francine Reed\, Brian Wilson\, Bruce Hampton)\, presents a truly surprising set of arrangements of the hits (Silly Love Songs\, Live & Let Die\, My Love) and deep cuts (Pretty Little Head\, What’s That You’re Doing\, more even unreleased songs like All of You\, from the recent film Man on the Run).  The mashups bring together songs from the beginning of McCartney’s solo career in 1970 into his work in the 2000s.  A night for McCartney fans and jazz fans alike.  \nGraham is joined by fellow Francine Reed bandmates\, Ramon Pooser (bass) and Mike Hinton (drums). Gwen Hughes fronts the band with her distinctive earthy jazz vocals. \nPresented by Roswell Arts Fund and Friends of Mimosa Hall & Gardens\, Art Around: Sessions offers an up-close live music experience inside one of Roswell’s most iconic venues.
