What We Do
Roswell In Print
Roswell in Print
Roswell in Print originally launched in the Fall of 2020 as a response to the pandemic. Traditional exhibition spaces were momentarily closed and yet the desire for connection and creative experiences was thriving. Roswell is home to a wealth of nontraditional outdoor spaces to explore and Roswell Arts Fund saw an opportunity to curate unique, socially distanced, outdoor experiences in neighborhoods throughout the city.
The initial exhibit was An Exploration in Three parts. Each exploration took inspiration from the characteristics that define the community of Roswell, GA: Modern Spirit, Southern Soul. Through a public engagement process, we asked the people of Roswell who they are and what is important to their community. The unique elements that emerged from those conversations became the themes at the core for this photography exhibition.
Exploration 1: “We Are Our Colors” (Dec 2020 – Feb 2021 | Displayed along construction fencing at East Village Shopping Center)
“Blossoming, vibrant, scenic, consequential, sustainable. Telling our story through artwork and color paints a picture that is lively, vivacious, leafy, and lush. If our city is a canvas for art, our history, physical surroundings, and the spirit of our people are the palette. “ – Public Art Master Plan, Roswell Arts Fund and the City of Roswell, 2017.
Exploration 2: “We Are Forward Thinking” (March 2021 – May 2021 | Displayed on the path outside City Hall and inside MARTA bus shelters along the two main MARTA routes in Roswell)
“Intentional , inclusive, blended, charming, verdant, illustrious. Telling our story through artwork paints a picture that is lively, vivacious, leafy, and lush. If our city is a canvas for art, our history, physical surroundings, and the spirit of our people are the palette.” – Public Art Master Plan, Roswell Arts Fund and the City of Roswell, 2017.
Exploration 3: “We Are Our River” ( July 2021 – Sept 2021 | Displayed along Roswell Riverwalk)
“Warm, reflective, bubbling, vigorous, meandering, life giving. Telling our story through artwork paints a picture that is lively, vivacious, leafy, and lush. If our city is a canvas for art, our history, physical surroundings, and the spirit of our people are the palette.. “ – Public Art Master Plan, Roswell Arts Fund and the City of Roswell, 2017.
Year 2 - Art in Unexpected Places
December 2022 - February 2023
Displayed on the construction fencing outside the Armada Hoffler/Southern Post property along Alpharetta Street
Submissions for the 2022-2023 exhibit were asked to showcase work that depicted the unexpected, the discovery, and the growth and progress of our world.
The exhibit transformed the fence in an object of visual interest. It used the fencing as a source of inspiration to showcase our City’s growth and development.
